The design of the inlet duct was one of the most important part in the aircraft's aerodynamic design. In the recent years, the design of inlet duct had made a great progress. Meanwhile, the high performance material and new processing methods were required.Because of the composite material is heterogenetic, we can design a composite material with optional strength and stiffness to meet the need as a special construction. It can be forecasted that the composite material will become the first choice when an advanced inlet duct be designed in future. At present, doing some research on carbon fiber winding inlet duct is indispensable.A carbon fiber winding inlet duct with rectangular cross-section is studied in this paper. A ceramic coating is applied to the inner surface of the inlet duct to protect the composite from the high temperature. A finite element code is developed to calculate the temperature distribution of the inlet duct with the thermal barrier. Based on the temperature field obtained by the thermal analysis, a parametric analysis is conducted to investigate the interlaminar stress at the interface between the composite and the thermal barrier in the cross-section of the inlet duct, using the commercial finite element software ANSYS. The deformations and stresses of the whole inlet duct are also calculated by ANSYS under the assumed work conditions, which includes the internal pressure and heating. Some practical recommendations are given for a better design of composite inlet duct.
