Wind tunnel experiments of a cylinder roof were conducted by means of the synchronous multi-pressure scanning technique. The equivalent static wind loads (ESWL) which produce maximum peak responses of roof-structures are formulated based on the modal expansion of the resilience and the quasi-static equation for calculating responses. Two approaches to compute ESWL are presented, where one approach is expressed as a weighted combination of the modal equivalent static wind loads, and another is written as a weighted combination of the background component and resonant component. THE distribution of modals in background region and resonant region is been analysed for different equivalent principles. The peak responses at different wind azimuths are calculated with the CQC (complete quadratic combination) method and the SRSS (square root sum of square) method, and the effects of modal coupling are checked. The distributions of the equivalent static wind loads on the cylinder roof obtained from two approaches above are compared with the mean wind loads, and the corresponding peak responses and mean responses are illustrated. The proportion of the background component and resonant component in peak responses is been compared at different wind azimuths and different rigidity. An extreme equivalent method is offered in this thesis, all nodes' peak vertical displacement and links' peak internal force can be closely to the possible actual instance by this method, so it is proved that the method provides a good characterization of the ESWL distribution with the actual extreme wind loading on the cylinder roof. The limitation of the other equivalent principles(nodes' peak vertical displacement and links' peak internal force) is been discussed...
