In the system of neutral indirectly grounded system, there is high probability of the single phase-to-earth fault. Detecting the fault line and the position of the fault accurately is of great significance in fixing the fault timely, improving the reliability of operation and minimizing the loss caused by the power cut. However, there is low degree of accuracy with the available theory of line selection and devices in reality, for which it is difficult to meet the need of fault line selection and the improvement of electricity supply reliability. In the view of the fault line selection in the neutral indirectly grounded system, the thesis analyzes the principles of various available methods of fault line selection and their traits and restrictions. And it also analyzes the transient and steady features presented after there are single phase-to-earth faults in the neutral non-grounding systems and resonant grounded systems. The author makes a thorough study on the features of the fault transient and ways to utilize the transient information and applies the method of calculating effect frequency block of each line, which provides the new algorithm for the fault line selection research with the theoretical basis and proposes the issues of the application of the transient component in the fault line selection that need to be further investigated. The new wavelet theory, which is superior to the traditional method with the Fourier, is the powerful tool to analyze the transient unsteady signals. Studying the wavelet theory thoroughly, the thesis analyzes the advantages of the method of line selection with wavelet and the choice yardstick. It proposes the idea that it is effective to fix position of the fault time with the application of the point of energy in the...
