Being applied in areas like public traffic management, the passenger flow analysis technology using video image has the functions of reducing manpower, increasing efficiency and improving management system, etc. With the development of Intelligent Transport System in our country, the passenger flow analysis technology based on video image will show us its great value, both economically and realitically.Motion body segmentation and motion body trcking are two parts in image processing. They are both independent and correlated with each other. Segmentation is the basis of tracking, the quality of which which directly decides the effect of tracking. Trcking is the high-level application of image segmentation. In this paper the camara is fixed on the right place of the top of bus near to the door in the bus to monitor the pate region of motion body, Which solves the difficult problem of target objects self-converage and partial converage of each other in motion body video image processing of intelligent public transportation passenger flow. In the thesis the two techniques of motion body segmentation and tracking are effectively integrated and applied to intelligently monitor passenger and totalize passenger flow.The thesis makes systemic research on the three steps included in the algorithm. They are basic detection for the spare pate region of motion body, edge segmentation for the pate region of motion body and multi-thread tracking for the pate region of motion body.
