Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) is a remote sensing technique, which can provide high-resolution terrain image and is applied widely in economy, science research and military. A main research area of SAR is to improve resolution, because high-resolution is much more important, especially in military application. SAR system requires that the velocity of Antenna Phase Center(APC) must be constant, but to airborne SAR, due to the atmosphere turbulence, APC will deviate from ideal motion track, which will worsen image quality and resolution. So, motion compensation is a key step of high-resolution SAR.SAR imaging algorithm is the foundation of research of motion compensation. Firstly, this paper analyses the theory of SAR through azimuth-resolution and range-resolution according to the theory of pulse compression, and then, describes the classic R-D imaging algorithm in detail, which is used as basic algorithm for research of motion compensation in this paper. The first step of motion compensation is to understand the motion error of airborne platform. In Chapter 2, This paper analyses the motion error of airborne platform in details, and divides it into errors in ground speed direction and Line of sight (LOS) direction, and establish model of motion error in two direction. Based on these models, research the...
