Rock mechanics is a truly interdisciplinary subject, with applications in geology and geophysics, mining, petroleum, and civil engineering. It relates to energy recovery and development, construction of transportation, water resources and defense facilities, prediction of earthquakes, and many other activities of greatest importance. With the development of science and technology, the mechanism and theory of anchorage is becoming more and more importance. This paper introduces a method which used the basic theory of fracture mechanics to study the property of rock fracture. The main volume of this paper is following:Part 1, from the specific aspects of the fracture mechanics, with the rock mechanics, the anchorage and failure mechanism of jointed rock mass and elastic mechanic, constructed a linear elastic model of rock body bridged anchor bar, the effect of an anchor bar on stress intensity factors near a crack tip of rock so can be analyzed and discussed the effect of reinforcement affected by several chief factors.Part 2, by analyzing the result of cohesive force of crack and double K fracture model and comparing with experimental data, it is researched that the property of compact tension rock specimens resist the progress of crack. At the same time, the principle of the stress intensity factors varying with out load, the influence on the opening displacement of crack and the length of crack progress produced by the cohesive force are discussed. Moreover, this paper gives a new kind of method for calculating the maximum bearing capacity of compact tension specimens and double K. fracture parameters.Part 3, through two kinds of rock material specimens, both of them for three points bending and compact tension experiments, with the result of cohesive force and double K fracture parameters mode, it is studied that the variation law of fracture parameters with specimen size and loading manners. It is easily seen that fracture mechanics applied to rock engineering is not only of theoretical value but also have value in engineering application from theoretical analysis, research on experiment and numerical example.
