Thaw consolidation of frozen soils is one of the important behaviors of frozen soil mechanics. In order to evaluate the engineering geology factor and the stable calculation for buildings in construction areas. Some science workers have done a lot of experimental study in permafrost areas in China. In permafrost areas, thaw-settlement problem is the main content for the frozen harmfulness study; in the seasonally frozen soil areas, frozen expansion problem is considered most in order to prevent and father the frozen harmfulness for the groundwork, the thaw-settlement index is thought little relatively , but it has been investigated from the data of frozen harmfulness, the thaw-settlement behavior still has an active effect on the construction stability in the seasonally frozen soil areas. The study on the thaw consolidation behavior of the seasonally frozen soil is developed in order to solve the problem of the groundwork for the industrial and civil construction in seasonally frozen soil areas of Hohhot . Then, 300 samples are taken from three typical sites in Hohhot and done experiment in laboratory. What's more, these samples represent the most soil behavior in Hohhot , typification is guaranteed. Two test methods are employed: one is loading the samples before thawing, and the other is loading the samples after completely thawed. The coefficient of thaw settlement as a function of granule, as a function of water, and also as a function of dry density are protracted; besides, the consolidation coefficient of thawed samples as a function of granule, as a function of water, and as a function of dry density are protracted. We can discover from the test results that the thaw-settlement coefficient and the consolidation coefficient of thawed samples are mainly relevant to the granule, dry density and the water content they have little to do with the geology and geography factor of the frozen soils.
