With the rapid development of Chinese economy, the growing scale of power networks and electrical equipments become more complex. In the face of such a huge and complex power network, it is a real challenge to integrate these facilities. And in order to enhance the management and decision-making abilities of the power supply company, how to effectively manage these resources is becoming very important. The purpose of this paper is to study and develop the power information sharing and management system. Relying on the powerful capabilities of data storage and spatial analysis of GIS, which support huge and complicated information collection, storage and quickly process, the system can provide abundant spatial data support to share and manage power information. In the system, information sharing between provincial power company and municipal power companies is realized. It provides timely, accurate and comprehensive information to help people making decisions. So, it apparently improves the working efficiency of scientific management in power supply companies. The paper briefly introduces the current situation and trend for the development of power information sharing and management system. In the previous chapters, the shortages and research meaning of power information sharing and management in China have been discussed. After analyzing the problems in power information management, a solution is put forwarded. Then, we overview some key techniques and theories, which will be used in this paper, about information sharing andmanagement. Based on these techniques and theories, we have designed and realized the power information sharing and management system.
