With the development of utility grid and the increased concern for power quality (PQ), the more functions for power quality monitoring system (PQMS) is required by utilities and customers in the past few years. In the paper, firstly, the national standards of PQ and the correlative algorithms are introduced briefly, and a simulation is used to verified the IEC model to measure flicker. Secondly, a Software Phase Locked Loop algorithm based on coordinate transformations is adopted to improve the traditional PLL. Finally, the design of monitoring instrument for a distributed PQMS is proposed, and accordingly, the implementation based on DSPs and industrial PC is achieved. Through the system test, it is proofed that the instrument can be used to perform real-time power quality monitoring.
