Carbon aerogels are a novel porous material with 80% to 99.8% of porosity of the entire entity and the specific surface area range form 200 to 1200m~2/g. Carbon aerogels are widely applied in many fields for its unique structures and properties. The application of carbon aerogels as electrode materials is available in commercial field. Recently, carbon aeogels and doped carbon aerogels as anode materials for lithium ion batteries are vigorously carried out.In our studies, we have prepared four kinds of microspherical carbon aerogels, resorcinol and formaldehyde as precursor termed as RF microspherical carbon aerogels, nano-Si powder doped RF microspherical carbon aerogels, 2,4-dihydroxybenzoic acid and formaldehyde as precursor termed as DF microspherical carbon aerogels, as well as Fe catalyzed DF microspherical carbon aerogels. Surfactant and agitation are used for preparation of microspherical organic aerogels and carbon aerogels, which distinguished from traditional method of preparation of monolithic aerogels. The results indicated that the prepared organic aerogels via surfactant and agitation are regular spherical shape, what's more, the regular shape of the particles remained after the carbonization process, the size of the carbonized sample particles range from several μm to 100 μm. The formation microspherical particles occurred during the sol-gel reaction because the surface effect allowed the liquid drop to assemble as spherical shape. Only the samples...
