Earth reinforcement is a rising geotechnical reinforce technology, reinforced retaining wall is one of the primary applications of earth reinforcement. Although it is widely used domestically and internationally, it's theory trails it's practice, some studies is still on initial phase. With the enlarging application scope of reinforced retaining walls, study on the dynamic characteristics and seismic response analysis methods of reinforced retaining walls becomes a prerequisite and significant task.In this thesis, based on the research achievements of the former scholars, working mechanism and calculate and design theory for earth reinforcement and reinforced retaining walls were improved, dynamic finite element and numerical simulation of reinforced retaining wall were completed, a simplified seismic response analysis method was studied. This thesis is composed of three parts as follows. In the first part, the researched actuality and trend of reinforced retaining walls was synthetically analysed. Some aspects about reinforced mechanism, friction coefficient between reinforcement and soil, and stability under seism of earth reinforcement were probed into. Formulas about the relative minimal reinforcement volume ratio and the minimal reinforcement length were deduced. The interaction friction coefficient between reinforcement and soil is affected constitutionally by the roughness of reinforcement and soil's dilatancy, estimate formula about the coefficient that considered these factors was proposed. These can give some useful references to practical engineering designs and study of reinforced retaining walls. In the second part, having considered reinforcement-soil and faceplate-soil contact elements ,nonlinear finite element model of reinforced retaining walls including soil elements, contact elements, faceplate elements and reinforcement elements was established. Numerical simulation of a reinforced retaining wall through dynamic finite element method was completed by ANSYS, and some qualitative conclusions about its dynamic behaviors were gained. In the third part, seismic response analysis methods of reinforced retaining walls were studied, and a simplified technique was brought forward. Based on the seismic response analysis theories of former scholars, and through considering the effects of reinforcement on soil, reinforced retaining walls can be simplified as a lumped mass MDOF system. Utilizing soil dynamics and structure dynamics, the dynamic equations...
