This article utilizes shape function and the Fluent console of CFD to provide an optimization method for aerofoil, and obtain the calculation by establishing the mathematical model, on the basis of analysis and generalization of the formulas of the hydrodynamic performance on vertical axis fixed-pitch straight blade water turbine for tidal current energy conversion. The purpose is for comparing and researching the improvement and enhancement of power coefficient of water turbine, after master pattern and the optimized wing section are applied to the water turbine, in order to lay the foundation for hydrodynamic performance design of stream water turbine.The first step is to calculate the hydrodynamic performances of the two-dimensional steady flow around a hydrofoil in the unbounded flow field, and compare and verify with the experimental values.And then, after establishing the optimization model in accordance with the principle of optimal design of shape formulas, we could obtain the numerical optimization aerofoil on the basis of NACA0018 master pattern solved by the Fluent console, and discuss the reasons of improvement of power coefficient.At last, after establishing the three-dimensional model of water turbine by optimization aerofoil, we could work out the result solved by MRF model, and compare it with that of the master pattern to verify the improvement of power coefficient of water turbine.
