To ensure navigation, we set up ship locks at natural stream channels which are building hydro-junction. The entrance of navigable structure is the throat of approaching channel, it's located in the edge of hydrodynamic river and still water of approaching channel, owing to the particularity of arrangement, the entrance is influenced by the release structure and the leading structure, to upper course entrance, the fracture of the stream channel is narrow; but to lower reaches entrance, the fracture of the stream channel is wide, so the stream flow locates in contraction and augment, it makes the flow bending deformation, brings velocity gradient, forms oblique flow. Owing to the oblique flow, brings circumfluence and separate spiral vortex, transverse current and circumfluence make ship drift and twist rotation, and badly, it may be made an accident, influence the navigation.To make sure of safety of navigation, the influence of flow condition can not exceed the range of the ship operation. So to research on the flow condition at the entrance of approaching channel and the improvement measures are importantly.This paper researches on division pier improving navigable flow conditions at the entrance of approaching channel: Firstly, summarize the flow condition at the entrance of approaching channel and the improvement measures, discuss the superiority of guiding pier, research on the mechanics of division pier improving navigable flow condition at the entrance of approaching channel; Secondly, through mathematic model and flume experiment to research on the influence of guiding pier at the entrance of approaching channel, get some valuable information, provide references for engineering; Finally, contrast the flow condition at the entrance of approaching channel, one-sided enlarged flow and groin flow, from the flow movement fundamental equations, deduced the calculated equation to calculate the length of circumfluence at the entrance of approaching channel, and according to the test data defined the equation parameter.
