Continuously Reinforced Concrete Pavement (CRCP) is a kind of concrete pavement in which the longitudinal reinforcing steel is continuously throughout its length and has no intermediate transverse expansion or contraction joints. CRCP is suitable for heavy load traffic and high-grade highway for it has lots of advantages, such as higher strength of whole pavement, longer service life, better riding quality, less maintenance work, lower maintenance costs, and so on. It has been widely used for arterial of highway and airport pavement in some advanced countries, such as the United States and European countries. The application and correlative study about CRCP is relatively late in our country. As a result, the division of most common distress, the establishment of the Long Term Pavement Performance (LTPP) Information Management System (IMS) and the study of CRCP performance measures are starting and acceleration.Firstly, this thesis divided the most common distress into 3 categories, and subdivided into 16 categories, according to the origin, form, and the effect of the pavement performance. And some of them were classified into 3 types, such as light, moderate and heavy, in response to the severity. Secondly, using the division above, developed the CRCP LTPP IMS. The IMS database contains some kinds of data, such as climate data, material and construction data, distress data, traffic data and so on. Using SQL Server 2000 as the server of the database, and created kinds of tables for different data. Programming the client application using VB 6.0, connecting the database by the way of data sources using the controller of ADO and DataGrid. Created some classes modules for the different data which contains the corresponding operations, and eventually satisfied the requirements of function of inserting, updating, searching, deleting and output the needed data into Excel for analyzing and printing. The database is powerful and stable. Finally, discussed the performance measures of CRCP. Token some factors, such as punchouts, cracking space and IRI, into the measures consideration, suggested that set the pavement distress measures and the unsmooth measures to measure the performance of CRCP. The pavement distress measures including PCI and PDI, while the unsmooth measures including RQI as currently using in our country.
