There are increasing interestings in the high voltage cathode, in accordance with the development of high power lithium ion batteries, and as a power supply for the future vehicle and load leveling system. Among the known, Li insertion compounds, LiCoO2, LiNiO2 and LiMn2O4, are now used as 4V cathode materials. However, the stability of the materials at fully charged state is a problem, and the cost and the environmentally acceptance for the cobalt and nickel compounds are unfavorable. For LiMn2O4, rapid capacity fade under high temperature has been pointed out as severe drawbacks. Besides these drawbacks, their voltage also limits their application in the high power batteries.Among the high voltage cathode materials, LiNi0.5Mn1.5O4 has received much attention because of its high capacity and stable cycleability.
