The high-speed flow moves through the bucket, leaving a separation region behind it. As air goes into the region from both sides, the separation region becomes into a cavity pocket which is filled with air. According to some correlative research, the backwater often happens in the aeration cavity when setting aeration bucket or slot on the base plate with slight slope. Backwater is a main influential factor of the effective cavity length, almost a decisive one sometimes. The backwater makes the aeration cavity long or short, existing or disappearing and unstable at times. When it reaches to a certain depth, the backwater may choke the air intake way. As the aeration effect is influenced, the flow can't be fully aerated. Seriously, even cavitation erosion will be caused. Above all, it is very significant to study the aeration cavity's backwater. In this paper, the experiments and theoretical analyses on flow aeration types to prevent cavitation erosion have been carried out. Based on the previous achievements, research has been done on backwater in aeration cavity.First of all, analysis on the formation principle of the backwater in aeration cavity has been put forward in mechanical aspect. In this paper, analysis is based on the momentum equation of the gross flow. The experimental results show that when...
