| With the social demand for monitoring system with higher precision, the development of sensor technology and the discovery, application of magnetostrictive material, study on high precision level-volume monitoring system has its theory and social conditions. The dissertation firstly analyzes the founction of several level sensors , the measuring techniques of ship's oil level-volume and the demand for ship level-volume monitoring system with higher precision. Based on this, it puts a further study on the high precision level-volume monitoring system, using magnetostrictive level sensor as level measuring unit ,and using Visual Basic to make the arithmetic of level to volume , which directly and roundly displays every cabin's level and volume data.To achieve higher precision, the paper do the work from the following two aspects: designing a level sensor that has higher precision, designing and improving the arithmetic of level to volume.Sensor designing. The paper choose magnetostrictive sensor as the metrical unit, for its characteristic and potential. It puts stress on signal dispose and control systerm: We have designed the electronic circuits and MicroCompuer programme, then succeed in level data collection, disposing, display and transmission to computer. Meanwhile we improve the precision though adding counter, compensating the temperature influence, digital filtering and other measures which are used to measure higher precision level data.Improvement of the volume arithmetic. Based on the construction of practical project applying hardware platform , not only the computer monitoring part realize the founction of interface monitoring ,to have a good precision, this part also ameliorates the level to volume arithmetic. Instead of the simple broken line that level to volume.we construct cubic smoothing spline based on stowage capacity table to calculate volume.
