Modern metro has been developed rather perfectly in the past 100 years. It becomes the most important way to alleviate the traffic pressure in the big cities around world. In most cities, it is the symbol of a city. Therefore, the metro train contour design, with streamlined, smooth appearance and extremely rich modern feeling, begins to attract people's attention. At the same time, with the gradually extension of subway to the suburban counties, the metro has to meet an inevitable trend to increase its speed. And with the higher requirements to the urban environment, an important field of metro technique development is to solve the aerodynamic effect of the running metro train. In this thesis the streamlined metro train head design which are both in artistic and good aerodynamic characteristic is proposed. The following efforts are presented in this thesis:(1) Computation model of contour design and its improvement are established. The numerical simulation to these models using the theory of train aerodynamics and computational fluids dynamics software called CFX are carried out.(2) According to the above result, the difference of the distributing of flow outfield, pressure field and the aerodynamic parameters among these models are analyzed and compared. The proper parameters of contour design of streamlined train head were achieved and some results about the relations of different contours and different running states were acquired. They provide theoretical foundation for the development of metro train contour design.(3) Based on theoretical analysis above, three streamlined train heads characterized the city with many different styles are presented according to the principles of modeling design and aerodynamic design.
