The tensegrity is a key problem attracting much attention of the research of space structure in resent year. The chief of the tensegrity is continuous tension, as the assistant is discontinuous compression; and that can be described as"island of compression in a sea of tension". The strength of steel is well used and we use the struts as least as we can. That accords to the rule of impersonality and nature. Being used on space structure, the average weight and average value don't increase obviously as the span increase. The thesis starts from parameters analysis in order to know some performances. Then we summarize the experiences on the basis of the study and design of the simple model. At last, we study and design the complex model of semi-tensegrity. The thesis discusses the characteristic of tensegrity.The thesis mainly includes the follow items:1. The thesis introduces briefly the tensegrity by the numbers. We define the tensegrity rigidly on the basis of introducing historical background and the divarication of definition. Then we introduce the characteristics of the tensegrity and summarize the research actuality in and out the country. At last , we introduce seven form-finding methods;2. The thesis analysis three essential tensegrity units. These contains the effect of the pre-tensioning,the vertical load,the horizontal load,the wind-load and the temperature-load on the displacement of the nodes and the internal force of the elements. Then we know the variety rules for under-loads and receive some performances of tensegrity units.3. Forming-finding of tensegrity quadrangular prism unit is the analytical solutions of the static methods. We design and facture the tensegrity quadrangular prism model, then summarize the experience and realize the difficulties and essential. We design particularly tensegrity plasmodium prism model on the basis of that, especially the joint. Then we simulate the assemblage process and design the hollow and spherical joint composing the connection hemisphere and decoration hemisphere.4. Study and design the semi-tensegrity tower.
