The requirement to further increase performance and improve reliability in modern turbo machinery has motivated designers to better understand unsteady effects. Among various researchers on unsteady flow, the concept of varying relative circumferential position of adjacent stator (or rotor) rows in turbo machinery has been developed in recent year to control the blade-row interaction. Numbers of experiments and numerical simulations show that clocking effect can effectively reduce the negative effect of blade-row interaction and improve the efficiency of unit. But there is still lack of systematic mechanism analysis. This paper systematically studies the application of clocking effect to low-speed repeated compressor by dynamic experiment. In this paper, experiment results of stator clocking with different axial gaps are analyzed. At first, the performance of compressor can be affected by clocking effect. It is found that the compressor efficiency can get a 0.7 percent change at different clocking angels. The performance of compressor can also be affected by varying the axial gap. This dissertation establishes two methods to change the axial gap based on prototype. An analysis fame is established to research the causes for notable change of performance of various rows of blades due to the change of axial clearance. It is found that the compressor efficiency is increased by 5.5 percent of prototype with min axial gap, the result shows that in the compressor with min axial gap has little loss than others. At last, the optimization matching of the clocking effect and axial gap changing is put forward, and the combination of the two advantages is a highly potential way to improve performance of compressor.
