In recent years, energy saving in buildings has been paid more attention to in our country. The primary question is the energy saving in envelope. Solar heat gain of windows is an important factor that influences the energy consumption of air conditioning in buildings. SHGC is the index that can value the solar heat gain performance of windows. But there has been no apparatus to measure the SHGC of windows in our country. So we can not acquire the measurement data of SHGC and the SHGC value is calculated only by simulation. This makes difficulties in energy saving estimate in practice. Consequently, studying the method of measuring the SHGC and developing the apparatus has been an urgent task. In this dissertation above questions has been solved.First, solar heat gain theories are introduced. Based on these theories, hot box method is used to measure the SHGC of windows. With this method, the first apparatus in our country has been developed and used in practice. The repeat results of experiments show that the apparatus is reliable and has good performance. By the contrast of experiment data and the results through simulation with WINDOW and THERM software, it is found that the apparatus can be used to measurement with feasibility and efficiency. Last, all the experiment data has been made the uncertainty analysis. The research is helpful to perfect the apparatus for measuring the SHGC of windows and develop the energy saving in buildings.
