This research is aiming at a difficult engineering problem which is met when we want to solve steel-encased RC column to steel beam connection. They are the old RC column strengthened with angle steel and new steel beam that comprise the joint. It is the challenge to design the special joint and master the mechanical performance of the joint for structural engineer. On this engineering problem the author discussed a design plan concerned rigid joint comprised of steel beam and RC column, that plan is about to solve the special joint problem and anti-seismic problem of the frame structure.According to the structural theory and similar joint mechanical performance, this paper puts forward a rigid joint comprised of steel-encased RC column and steel beam, and the author conducted a low-cycle reversed loading experiment. Using the data that included hysteretic curve, ductility coefficient, stress and strains of the joint, the author generally analyzed the mechanical performance of the joint.According to the comparison with experiment, the mechanical behavior of the joint was simulated by numerical analysis program ANSYS. As a conclusion, the analysis result of simulation model revealed the mechanical performance of the joint properly in contrast to the result of experiment. It is the particularity that leads to complication of joint's details. The joint with different type of details were simulated by numerical analysis program ANSYS, and it is the key point to get clear about the mechanical behavior of the joint with different dimension of components, and the optimization of the joint's details is discussed through the numerical model results. Finally, the paper summarizes the content of the research, and discusses the next step work of the research.
