Digital is a new tendency way for tunnel engineering, modern computer technology is applied in the research of Digital Tunnel Engineering, which includes 3D data model, data structure, 3D modeling method, and analyzing algorithms. Meanwhile, the construction of the tunnel and the underground engineering is a dynamic process, which is continuously changing both in time and space. It is essential for the engineers to acquire construction data in time and do spatial-temporal query by doing the data model research and dynamic simulation of the construction process. This research focused on the excavation process of the tunnel and underground engineering construction and the monitoring data, by introducing the concept of temporal GIS, and designing data structure with temporal characteristics, the main frame of the DTE platform is put forward and applied in Xiamen subsea tunnel. In details, this dissertation includes:Firstly, a research is done to the new developing aspect of the GIS and its achievements in application. It can be found that most GIS software is capable of dealing with spatial and attribute data, while temporal data is left stranded. In other words, the research of temporal GIS is still in the theoretical phase, the software application is far behind of the theory development.Secondly, after studying and comparing some temporal GIS data models which are widely used nowadays, a data structure for underground construction is put forward according to tunnel construction data and monitoring data. The temporal data classification and database is built. The key characteristic of the temporal database is that it can do spatial-temporal analysis thus the process of tunnel construction can be presented.Thirdly, we design the temporal data of the tunnel, and organize the construction and monitoring data in the DTE platform, which is built on the foundation of the database technology, three-prism strata modeling technology, solid modeling technology and dynamic visualization technology.
