The automobile already become the important part of modern civilized society. The various performance of automobile have been highly required, especially it's fuel economy and dynamic performances which people have make great efforts. This paper has done some research on the metal belt continuously variable transmission (CVT), that replaced the original transmission equipment but keep the transmission system style.The Metal Belt CVT as vehicle's ideal transmission equipment has extensive development future and market space. Compared with the widely used automatic transmission (AT), it has many advantages, such as the good performance, simple structure. The CVT can realize vehicle's continuously variable speed. Through controlling the CVT correctly, we can make the vehicle realize dynamic optimum matching automatically between vehicle's running resistance and engine's output power according to driver's intention. In this way, it can exert vehicle's fuel economy and dynamic performance to limit, meeting its requirement on fuel economy and dynamic performances. The metal belt continuously variable transmission is more and more valued by people, all the world main car manufacturers are carrying on its research work. As we know, modeling and rig test are the best method during the research phase.This paper aims at building up a more perfect model. The model can carry on different simulation research according to different automobile and engine types. In addition, fuel economy and dynamic performances appraisement systems are build, then we can carry on the pre-appraisement about the CVT car's fuel economy and dynamic performances. The paper do much work on the CVT's speed-ratio control. The result of rig test has shown that the model and the control method are accurate.The paper is based on the"Continuously variable transmission (CVT) electronic and hydraulic control system research"project. This project is undertaken by Hunan Jianglu Rongda Auto-transmission technology CO,.TLD. It's one of the important research plans of Hunan province, its number is 05GK2007.
