Sub-orbital Vehicle refers to a multifunctional spacecraft, which can be re-launched to conveniently transport payload to space. Compared with space vehicle, it has smaller bulk more simple structure lower price and swifter launch. Because of its high value in military and civil fields, many countries have attached great importance to itThe parameters compartmentalizing trajectory are different to different vehicle. The reentry trajectory of sub-orbital vehicle is divided to three phases that are return phase terminal area energy management (TAEM) phase and landing phase from comparing and analyzing space vehicle. In return phase the energy is dissipated, and the environment is badly and complex. In this paper, the return phase is analyzed and designed.1) The return manner and return phase of the sub-orbital vehicle are fixed on by analyzing the parameter such as the mass and the aerodynamic property from comprehending the development of the sub-orbital vehicle.2) The flight constraints are fixed on by analyzing the environment. At least the heating rate the maximum load and the dynamic pressure constraints are satisfied in return phase. The safe corridor is fixed on analyzing the constraints.3) The reference return trajectory was designed to constant-bank phase and analytical representation phase by analyzing the reentry phase design of the space shuttle and the airship. In constant-bank phase, a large constant bank angle is used. In analytical representation phase, the altitude-velocity profile is design by the borderline of the safe corridor, then, the bank angle can be account by kinetic equations. The bank angle and altitude-velocity profile can be adjusted by TAEM constraints and the reference return trajectory is received4) In this paper, the following trajectory is build upon the MATLAB/SIMULINK to check up the reference return trajectory. The reference return trajectory that could satisfy the constraints is received by compared with following trajectory. The results demonstrate that the method given by...
