In order to reduce VOC yield,a pilot plant packed with the catalyst was designed and constructed In this work. Catalytic combustion of aromatics containing waste gas in a reactor was systematically studied.Some effective measures were adopted in order to keep the reactor adiabatic in radial direction and to reduce the axial heat conductivity along the wall of the reactor.The concentration of VOC and the velocity of air was controlled strictly and the transient axial temperature profile was automatically monitored and collected in time.The result s showed that the variation in the operation parameters which strongly influenced the heat balance of the reactor in a cycle would lead to a considerable change in the axial temperature profile of the reactor.This work provided the data for the design,operation and modeling of this kind of reactors on the pilot scale.
