The cushioning packaging material is referred one which can absorb the energy during the transportation in order to avoid from destruction. This paper studied the preparation principle, processing, the cushioning property of the using cushioning packaging materials and the environment-friendly cushioning packaging materials, and the advantages and the disadvantages of the using cushioning packaging materials. In this paper, expanded perlite, water and environment-friendly adhesive were mixed together, then the mixed material was filled in the die. After the heating and pressing the expanded perlite cushioning packaging material was prepared. During the preparation, the mixed materials gotten chemical reaction to gain a meshy–elasticity structure, meanwhile the procreant CO2 was used as the vesicant. The static compacting property, the dynamic impacting property and the vibration transferability were tested and analysed, and were contrasted to EPE and EPS. After a lot of experiments the following were the results.1. According to perlite: adhesive: water=72︰8︰9 or 10︰1︰1(volume ratio), the original elements were mixed sufficiently in the high speed mixer. The expanded perlite cushioning packaging material was prepared after heating, moulding and pressing. The new material's density was up 0.015 g/cm3 and the foaming rate was up three.2. The moulding property was perfect, various cushioning materials can be prepared according to the dies.3. The new material had perfect property, especially to the fragility from 38.9 to 56.4g and the stress range from 1.74 to 5.02kPa, it could protect the products well.4. The vibration transferability experiment indicated the inherent frequency of the new material was low, it was fit to the transportation in which the frequency was more than 30HZ.5. After repeating experiments the new material had perfect cushioning property and restorability.
