The city networks of water supply should finish the important task of transporting the drinking water from cistern to customers. However, in the process of supply, because of the physical, chemic and biologic effect happened in the pipes, the water quality usually changes a lot. Therefore, the quality measurement in water supply networks is an important step and also a weakness to improve the water quality. In the complicated networks of city water supply, it is impossible to inspect the water quality in all the pipes and nodes, but we can understand the distribution of water quality in the whole networks completely by computer-aided simulation. Accordingly, it would bring good effect on improving water quality to research the rules of water quality change, establish the reliable evaluation system of water quality in the networks, put forward the feasible measures, and provide the theory to enhance the technique and management of water supply.This thesis discusses the research and development about water-age, and gets the generalization and analysis of water-age. The research domestic and overseas about water-age is on the first step. This attribute of water-age determines the importance in the water-supply system. Through the careful discussion of change rules about mostly index of water quality like remaining chlorine, benzotrichloride and so on, analysis and confirmation about the range of water-age.Secondly, the thesis discusses the calculation about water-age in water supply networks. According to the materials balance-theory on the nodes, we can deduce the formula on the water-age of nodes. It provides the theory basement about the water quality evaluation in the networks to calculate the age of water supply networks by calculating the water-age of nodes.Thirdly, it sets up the evaluation system of measuring water quality in the model network. It also demonstrates the factors to change the water quality, the development and request of domestic and overseas drinking-water standard. According to summarizing exist evaluation system domestic and overseas of water quality, and calculation of water-age about supply networks, we can erect the evaluation system of measurement about water quality in the ensample networks.Finally, the thesis gives a calculation example. It evaluates the water quality in this example through water-age calculation, evaluation system about water quality, and combination with the EPANET software in the thesis. In the application of the software, on basis of the change of customers, the paper compares the water two qualities. At last, the result indicates that the changes of water-consumption in the networks play an important role in the age of networks.
