The essay sums up the theories related to the geogrid-reinforced and pile-supported foundation and the determinate method of design parameters in the documents available.It has studied the characteristics of the work force of the geogrid-reinforced and pile-supported foundation through sixteen loading model tests, and analyzed the effects that varied pile spacing, reinforced floors, the paving position of the reinforcement, layer thickness have had on the subsidence of the geogrid-reinforced and pile-supported foundation, loading stability, the stress ratio of the pile to the soil, pile axial force, the tension of geogrid, the water pressure in the pores of the soft soils etc. What has also been discussed in the essay includes the effect the paving position of geotile produces on the subsidence of the foundation when geotile and geogrid are in joint use.Through simple loading and unloading experiment, the essay has studied the effect the use of the georid has on the subsidence of the foundation under circular loading.With Plaxis 7.2 2D program, the testing process of the models is simulated; the results are contrasted with the results of the tests; the testing data is verified; and the model tests' main conclusions are verified.According to the testing results, the essay has compared and discussed six accounting method of the maximum tension of the geogrid-reinforced and pile-supported foundation in the overseas documents. On the basis of the previous studies, combined with the model test results, it has put forward the procedure of the preliminary design for the geogrid-reinforced and pile-supported foundation with simplified accounting method and made simple analysis of the economic benefits making use of the geogrid-reinforced and pile-supported foundation.
