Along with the occurrence of several accidents caused by rotors sub-synchronous all over the world, the problem of rotors sub-synchronous has drawn abroad attentions. Comprehensive research has been conducted in the direction of rotors sub-synchronous response, monitoring protection and fatigue life caused by turbo-generator and electric system disturbance all over the world.In this paper, the fault identification and response model when sub-synchronous occurred is established,the life loss and the life distribution is given. Practical computational procedure is compiled and the sub-synchronous characteristics of ShangDu N600MW turbo-generator units is calculated. The life loss of sub-synchronous is compared with the life loss of a certain cold start, which providing a theoretical basis for the standards of sub-synchronous shutdowns.
