SSSC which is regarded as one newly developed FACTS equipment has received more and more attentions recently. This paper has adopted cascaded inverter as the main circuit of SSSC and SVPWM based on KL coordinates as the modulation algorithm. Considering the characteristics of main circuit structure and SSSC function, research about optimizing redundancy switching states have been done in order to optimize the inverter output. On one hand, random distribution is used to balance switching load at low modulation indices, the H-bridge units involving output are selected by random number which is generated by chaotic mapping, it can decrease switching losses because of considering the switching states of last sampling time; on the other hand, the balance control of capacitor voltages is realized by charging and discharging equal amount of energy, plus the control strategy is devised to keep the capacitor voltage stable. Finally, the above-mentioned approaches are testified to be correct and effective by simulation results.
