Low frequency oscillation is quite an important problem which always affects the security and stabilization of power system. This paper concentrates on the research of power system low frequency oscillations on resonance mechanism, while how different forms of disturbances affect the oscillation characteristics and the possible sources in governing system which may evoke the oscillation are comprehensively studied and simulated. The main contributions are listed as following:1. In accordance with low frequency oscillation on resonance mechanism, the oscillation characteristics and the effects of different forms of disturbances are analyzed;2. Considering the interactions between turbine's governing system and power system, the potential sources that may evoke the oscillation are searched in governing system, and the effects of swing of governing system to mechanical power of steam turbine are discussed and simulated.3. Based on the pressure-power model of turbine, the relations between swing of governing system and the resonance oscillation are researched. A conclusion from the simulation is drawn that swing of governing system might evoke power system low frequency oscillation on resonance mechanism.
