There are many design methods inside and outside country about the anchor bolt and the column soleplate of portal frame.This paper firstly summarized methods of the rigid column heel,and detailed analysed the characters of the anchor bolt's tension inside and outside country. We concluded that the simplified method in projects was more brief and safer ,but the precision was not enough,the result of the elastic assimilate method was more acuurate but the process of the calculation was very complicated. The other methods also had their advantages and disadvantages.Secondly, this paper analysed the simplied method and the elastic assimilate method,which were the two familiar methods in our projects.Discussing the cubic equation, we can find a perfect way to solve it. Then combining with State building standard atlas 04SG518-3, the paper had a quantificational analyse with the different results.Then the paper analysed the thickness of the soleplates with the two methods mentioned above to find the difference, we can choose a safer way in our design to optimize the design method and make a reference for the designers.In the design of State building standard atlas 04SG518-3, the column soleplate used many stiffened ribs and partions ,which was a effective method to reduce the thickness of the column soleplate ,ensure the stiffness for the outward. So this paper analysed the rationality and necessity detailedly.
