The technology of state monitoring and fault diagnosis of equipment made great progresses in and out of our country recently, which plays an important role in serving the equipments for their stable, long-term and safe running. However, with the advancement of modern science and technology, the equipments tend to be larger, faster as well as more roboticized and complicated, which makes the technology of state monitoring and fault diagnosis more important.In the past, after the accident or fault taken place in the rolling mill, it was quite difficult to analyze them for short of the working state data of that time. After adopting the technology of hydraulic system's state monitoring and fault diagnosis, it has great significance to on-line monitor, holding working state, product in high efficiency and safety, supervise operation, and find out the cause of the accidents and so on.In this paper, the history, actuality and trend of development of the mechanical state monitoring and fault diagnosis are discussed firstly. After analyzing all manners of the hydraulic plants fault diagnosis means, we say that it is an important mean to improve the service efficiency of plant and the production efficiency used preventive service. Study the condition monitoring strategy of hydraulic system, and give a research on signal processing technology. It will not guarantee the hydraulic plant running well, until we adopt the state monitoring and the expert fault diagnosis system.Analyze all kinds of the configuration software both here and abroad, chose MCGS to establish the state monitoring system, make a deep research on the means and process of configuration in MCGS.Aiming at the hydraulic system of Lingyuan still works'900mm temper mill, analyze the composition and other features of the system. Then, establish the monitoring contents and targets of the temper mill's hydraulic system. Finally,establish the monitoring means to these targets, and construct the monitoring system in MCGS.
