Piezoelectric pump is a kind of new transmission fluid device driven by the piezoelectric transducer components. Piezoelectirc pump is also a new kind of superior smart materials actuator. It is a good try and a profound innovation that using piezoelectric ceramic materials as fluid pump actuator driving components. Drive source, transmission-mechanism and pump body of the tradition fluid pump be made one in piezoelectric pump. The delicate structure and low energy consumption , precision control , quicke response, no magnetic interference make piezoelectric pump has brightening prospects in high-tech area. In recent decades, piezoelectric pump was expanded by leaps and bounds. Focus of of piezoelectric pump research is on piezoelectric pump structure and manufacturing engineering. Only when we go deep into the research on how the structure determines the piezoelectric pump performance,we can forecast the piezoelectric pump performance and carry out optimization design of piezoelectric pump structure. Therefore,this paper describe mainly how the structure determines the output characteristic of piezoelectric pump. The full dissertation is divided into six chapters, mainly as follows:1. PrefaceIn recent decades, the study on the piezoelectric pump has transfored from the structure and principle to the market-oriented direction. Nowadays, the research and development trends of piezoelectric pump are roughly two directions: the one is to high-pressure, large piezoelectric pump flow direction; the other is to the size miniaturization, less power consumption, high output accuracy direction. After more than 20 years development, piezoelectric pump has been coming out of the laboratory and gradually applied to practical workplace with the bright market demand prospects. Compared with the traditional pump, piezoelectric pump has many unparalleled advantages: precision micro flow control, no magneticinterference from the outside world but also magnetic interference, the delicate structure and low energy consumption. There are many effective application cases of piezoelectric pump in the areas of micro precision delivery systems, high-power high-density integrated chip cooling, fuel cells, and blood circulation system. Japan had put the piezoelectric pump on the market. These pumps can be used in blood transmission, small parts cleaning, adhesive spray, chemical analysis and other related areas. The domestic piezoelectric pump market has not yet emerged. Jilin University, Qinghua University and Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics and other colleges and universities are sparing no effort in promoting the process of piezoelectric pump.2. The basic theory of piezoelectric pumpBased on the reverse piezoelectric effect of the piezoelectric materials, piezo- electric pump is directly or indirectly using the mechanical deformation of the piezoelectric ceramic components to change the pump chamber volume and pressure. Through the one-way valve opened and closed, the piezoelectric pump realizes an orderly one-way flow of fluid. As the basic components, as well as electrical energy conversion components, the performance of piezoelectric ceramic components determines the performance of piezoelectric pump. The basic concept of the piezoelectric effect, the basic physical properties of the piezoelectric material The vibration modes, the equivalent circuit resonance characteristics were analyzed. The theory on the basis of piezoelectric actuators was expounded.3. Simulation analysis and experimental research on the Piezoelectric bimorphsThe static and dynamic working characteristic of the Piezoelectric bimorphs was analyzed using the analytical method, FEM, experiment testing method etc. Using ANSYS software, finite element model of Piezoelectric bimorphs was built up. Center distortion quantities under two support states were figured out; Experiment tests of unimorph Piezoelectric bimorphs had been done, which include static state characteristic under the direct current (DC) electric field, resistance characteristic under the alternating current (AC) electric field, distortion magnitude-frequency characteristic and the influence of different wave form to distortion ability. Through contrasting the analysis and test results of three methods, resolution method and FEM were verified valid, which also enrich optimum design method. It laid the foundation to develop high performance piezoelectrical pump.4. Theoretical analysis on the output properties of the piezoelectric pumpUsing the basic knowledge of hyudrodynamics, the performance of piezoelectric pump influenced by the viscosity of the liquid was theoretical analysis. The basic concepts about the fluid movement, piezoelectric pump fluid flow and the basic equation of state were explored. By integration of theory analysis and finite element method,how the propping manner, cushion chamber,distance between valve hole and valve border determines piezoelectric pump performance has been analysed. Theory optimization was made to piezoelectric pump structure aimed at reducing the liquid resistance. On this basis, the author analysed the piezoelectric pump water head loss. Meanwhile, the finite element analysis of the piezoelectric pump showed the flow property of piezoelectric pump, pressure distribution by the ANSYS software.And the author brought improvement of piezoelectric pump structure forward.5. Experimental research on the output properties of the piezoelectric pumpAimed at reducing the liquid resistance and increasing the flow rate, a hard and laboratory experiment was put on the piezoelectric pump structure for exploring suitable piezoelectric pump structure in the transmission of water. In order to optimize the pump parameters, how the propping manner,cushion chamber,distance between valve hole and valve border determines piezoelectric pump performance has was studied in detailed experimental testing. The various piezoelectric pumps with different structural parameters were manufatured. Their performance was tested. A variety of piezoelectric pump structure was produced, and a lot of experiments were carried out.6. ConclusionThe main conclusion of the paper was given and the future research directions were given.
