Appling high strength and high performance concrete (HSHPC) to the steel reinforced concrete (SRC) structure, the steel reinforced high strength and high performance concrete (SRHSHPC) structure is formed. It has higher bearing capacity and rigidity, fine seismic behaviors and durability, better economic and social effects compared with SRC structure. Because there are more and more tall buildings and steel in our county, SRHSHPC structure has great development potential and application space. Although a lot of researches on the seismic behavior of steel reinforced concrete (SRC) joints have been made both at home and abroad, studies on SRHSHPC joints are not enough.This paper focuses on the mechanism of crack resistance and shear bearing capacity of SRHSHPC frame joints under low cyclic reversed horizontal load. The low cyclic reversed horizontal loading experiment of 5 SRHSHPC frame joint specimens were carried out. The mechanical behaviors of SRHSHPC frame joints including crack development, failure patterns and deformation characteristic etc. were analyzed. The influences of axial compression ratio and concrete strength on the seismic behaviors of frame joints were discussed. The practical calculating formulas of crack resistance and shear bearing capacity of such joints were derived. The research results show that SRHSHPC frame joints possess good seismic behaviors, strong energy dissipation and ductility steel improves structure ductility, and high strength and high performance concrete improves concrete brittleness. The calculation results tallies with those obtained from test above and the outcome from similar tests.The study results will be the basis of establishing reasonable calculation theory and design method of crack resistance and shear bearing capacity of SRHSHPC frame joints. Besides, it is useful to promote the development and application of SRHSHPC.
