Electric double layer capacitor(EDLC) is a new energy storage component , having great potential in application field. One of the most important parts of EDLC is the polarizable electrode, because its properties have direct affects on the EDLC's working potential and capacitance .Therefore, polarizable electrode must have high specific surface area, high strength, high window potential and very low equivalent resistance (ESR). The boron-doped diamond films have a wide potential window in aqueous and unaqueous media and long-term stability of the response, enabling it to be the best option of polarizable electrode. After certain processs, BDD's double layer capacitance can increase sharply, although it behaves unsatisfactorily before the process.This paper has mainly focused on the process of depositing BDD successfully in a certain condition by using Chemical Vapor Deposit (CVD) equipments, and demonstrated some researches on the factors affecting the quality of BDD as well.The electrochemical characteristics of BDD has been studied by using cyclic voltammetry method and BBD has been proved to possess a higher working potential and better long-term stability than any other polarizable electrodes in the use of EDLC.It has also been found that after being etched ,the capacitance of the BDD can be increased sharply .
