This dissertation is mainly about the research of the PMSM-driven (permanent magnet synchronous motor) system of vessels, which is used attentively in some small and medium-sized vessels.As a new type of propulsion, the synchronous-motor-driven system gains advantages over that of a DC motor for more simple mechanism and also over an asynchronous one for higher performance especially when used in much lower rotation-speed applications such as vessel propulsions. As it comes to a PMSM system, the rotor magnet-inducing coils are removed and replaced by permanent magnet poles, for which the mechanical structure is simplified still more.Chapter II provides the mathematical model of the PMSM. Meanwhile, MATLAB, a helpful tool to test the designing effect, is introduced to set up model. An example about how to set up model of a PMSM-driven system with the aid of MATLAB is demonstrated in this Chapter.Several usually used types of control of a PMSM-driven system are generalized, compared and deliberately chosen to meet requirements of vessel propulsion in Chapter III.In a vessel propulsion system, analyzing and set up model for the hydrodynamics of the propeller are also indispensable. The load characteristic curve is much more approximate to a part of conic section. Further analysis is given is Chapter IV.TMS320LF2407A is an advanced digital signal processer developed by Tl, which is able to realise such advanced algorithm of motor as vector-controlling, nonlinear-controlling, optimal controlling and self-adaptive controlling. Aided by the analog curciut, the TMS320LF2407A has the ability to meet the requirements of the vessel propulsion system, for example accuracy, instant response and stability as such. Furthermore, some of the DSP source code is attached to the end of the dissertation.
