When constructing senior highways in china, the project of twin tunnels often adopted in special geologic and topography districts in order to get better technological and economical purpose. But there are few twin tunnels in constructed highways, so the experience that we can make for reference is scarce. In the advanced technology countries such as Japanese and Europe countries, there is more experience that we can make for in twin design and construction because of the long theory of twin tunnel construction.The thesis is based on the analysis of today's twin tunnel research results. Combined with the great scientific research project which name is The Research of the Key Technologies in the Model Test of the Twin Tunnel, the modeling tests are experimented in lab on ground of the Nan Dao He tunnels that are in the Si-Xiao highway road. A geometric scale of 1:100 is adopted on the model in these tests. On the base of geometric scale and gravity scale, the comparability that controls all physical and mechanical parameters in elastic condition is realized. This thesis introduced that according to the mainly engineering geological conditions the model test of twin tunnel adopted rock mass of strata level, simulating the excavation process of central pilot and full-face of the twin tunnel. There are two different tests with and without lining structure.According to the principle of similitude of the model test, the results of the two model tests have been analyze carefully. Comparing with the model test the thesis makes the computer 3D numerical simulation analysis. The numerical simulation results are adopted to verify the test results. The conclusions we make can also play an directive role in twin tunnel construction.
