Natural organic matters (NOM) are ubiquitous in water environments and contribute to the most part of organic carbon. Usually, NOM are presented in soluble, colloidal or adsorptive state. NOM dissolved may bring about many negative impacts on water treatment process, such as its negative influence on coagulation, producing disinfection by-products(DBPs). In the latest two decades, the function and significance of NOM in the eco-environment, especially the interaction of compositions of NOM, as a widely spread natural organic chelating ligand, with various metal ions has become the focus of research. Metal complexation with NOM may also be disadvantageous to water treatment process. Although its toxicity may be reduced by its complexation with NOM, it will be difficult to remove the complexed metal in water treatment process. Free metal may be released by some water treatment technics. Its toxicity, transportation and conversion are also affected by the competition effect among dissolved metal ions with NOM. The NOM can not be mineralized by ozonation, while their characteristics will be changed greatly. Accordingly, the complexation behaviors of the interaction between heavy metal ions and NOM will be altered. Macromolecular functional groups of NOM can be removed by coagulation, consequently the complexation behaviors of the interaction between heavy metal ions and NOM will be altered. Investigating the effect of ozonation and coagulation on the complexation characteristics of NOM will help the understanding the behavior rules of metal ions in water environments, and lucubrating the effect of ozonation and coagulation on the metal complexation with NOM.Commencing with characteristics of humic acids (HA). Research on the characteristics of copper complexation with Humic acids(HA), effect of ozonation and coagulation was carried out. The main work and results of this...
