The paper studies the thermodynamic calculation formula of the cold insulation pipeline under three different laying modes: overhead laying, directly-buried laying and channel laying. It can be used for calculating and analyzing the per-cold loss, lagging outward temperature, the hydraulic temperature rise and so on. And the paper analyzes the effect of the laying mode, climate regions etc for reducing the cold loss and preventing envelope from condensation of the cold insulation project.Take the overhead laying pipeline as example, the paper applies the concept of economics and uses the external punishment function and the step acceleration method for optimizing the single-layer and double-layer pipeline's insulation thickness under anti-condensation. And it proves that the method is general use by some examples. In addition, the paper analyzed the method for economic thickness calculation of the pipelines that supply heat in winter and supply cold in summer.The paper studies the irrationality of the allowable maximum cold loss in some national standards and graph sets in our country, and analyzes the correlative regulation in the insulation of pipes and equipments of Russia.It can be the reference when others quote and modify these national standards and graph sets.On the base of above analysis and references, the calculating software about cold insulation was compiled. It can be used in the scientific research. And it also can be used in the engineering calculations.
