Gas-fired infrared radiant heater is one of the advanced heating equipments. It is a low intensity radiant heater and mostly employed in high space buildings. The study object of this paper is gas-fired infrared radiant heating system in a workshop of Tianjin Lishi pact Co., Ltd located in TEDA. The method is test investigation combined with simulation.The paper at first introduces the theory of Thermal radiation heat transfer, Numerical calculation method and CFD simulation. Test investigation is accomplished and CFD simulation is carried out according to experiment data. The paper Learns install location of heater effect heat distribution in workshop and characteristic of parameter by CFD simulation. After data processing and an analysis of the simulation result, the conclusion about air temperature, MRT, velocity of air flow and the envelope internal surface temperatures is acquired. The envelope internal surface, ground and facilities have high temperature. Temperature gradient is little at the vertical direction. Air temperature is lower than effective temperature. Gas-fired infrared radiant heating system has better heat effect and can meet the need of temperature and thermal comfort. Energy saving effect can be proved greatly when Gas-fired infrared radiant heating is employed in high space buildings. It is rational to use revised coefficients method or the means provided by dealer to calculate the heat load. These methods can be used in practice.Researching gas-fired infrared radiant heating in high space buildings by numerical simulation method, some key questions how to choose equation, build model, generate the mesh and determine under-relaxation should be solved. The means and conditions of test investigation play an important role. The production can instruct deviser and engineer. The superiority of Gas-fired infrared radiant heating can be realized in practice. The goal of energy saving and environmental protection is achieved.
