| Mainly based on conditions of current, sediment and characteristics of bridge pier, local scour is calculated according to specifications. However, because local scour of bridge pier is very complex, understanding and theory research about its mechanism are not enough. Physical model experiment should be further researched which will be supplied as the scientific foundation for engineering design.This article gives a systemic study about local scour using physical model experiment and calculations according to specifications. Many correlative curves between local scour and condition of coming current and between local scour and breadth of piers are drawn. It also uses typical formula to calculate the characteristic coefficients of piers while the angle of coming current exists and also draws up a picture about the change of riverbed using the experiment data. It discusses the comparative position between the particle of the utmost velocity and the particle of the utmost local scour depth. It makes an analysis about the influence of sand asymmetry to the local scour calculations in the consideration of sand turning thick, and then puts forward a standard to judge the time when local scour has finished and a predigested calculated method in condition that the sand is delaminated. |
