Shield Method has gradually taken the dominant role in the soft soil subway tunnel construction due to the advantages of high driving spee d, wide suitability for various stratums, great construction safety, and good construction quality. The tunnel construction is usually carried out in the central area of a city, where there are lots of buildings and full of underground pipes. Thus, it is significant to control the surrounding soil's disturbance caused by the driving of shield. The current construction technique of shield tunnel has become mature and there are many successful cases of shield construction in complicated stratums home and abroad. Nevertheless, more researches are required. Those experiences can not be directly applied to certain case, because the geology condition, project configuration and surroundings of different cases vary from each other. Therefore, the requirements of shield tunnel construction in complicated stratum are not satisfied.Based on the background of Maizidian West Road-Agriculture Exhibition Hall Part of Beijing No.10 Metro, a comprehensive and systematical in-situ experiment on the disturbance of surrounding soil caused by the shield going through the large size grit & pebble stratum and the clay stratum was carried out. Four test points for soil layerwise settlement, two test points for soil deep horizontal displacement, and several test points for ground settlements were set. According to the data gathered, The disturbance characteristics of the surrounding soil lead by the construction of shield were analyzed. The detailed works are as below.(1) Considering the differences of the characteristics and construction...
