Urban Complex

The Terminal-complex is a new kind of air harbor which represents the urban development and the prospects of aviation undertaking in 21 centuries. Airport terminal architecture is no longer a mere shelter beside the runway where necessary procedures were taken place. It has become a new kind of urban-complex. With the overwhelming expansion of the passenger and cargo capacity, the conception in designing an airline terminal has changed a lot.Large capacity, the trend of complex, space for changes and expansion, maximum of efficiency and profit, the comforts of the passenger has become the key points in designing a terminal. This article emphasis on the background reasons in all these trends, and its imponderable significance in setting a mode for the entire airport and terminal. The discussion is focused on 5 main respects: First, a brief retrace of the history of airport terminal design, the principles in the designing process.Second, briefly analyzed how the terminal-complex come into being, and clearing about its fundamental conception and the importance of its spatial environment in contrast with the single air transfer post. Third, analyzed in depths the form and shape of its spatial construction, the essential factor and the way of creation about its spatial environment, in the light of example and a lot of facts which have special influences upon the spatial environment of urban-complex.
