According to recent results from the domestic and international research, this paper firstly analyzed influences of current scour on working behavior of pile groups under vertical loadings, and put forward some opinions and suggestions to engineering design. This paper established a three-dimensional nonlinear finite element model, which coupling three-dimensional finite elements, contact elements and infinite elements. Nonlinear modified Duncan-Chang's model was applied to consider load-decreasing soil and the effect of the second main stress. The results of calculation indicate that this model is suitable for analyze and calculation of pile groups under vertical loadings. At first, some numerical simulation methods of pile groups by current scour are discussed, and an effective and accurate method is defined. Based on the method, the differences of working behaviors of single piles between scoured and non-scour were analyzed, and the effect of different types of soils and scour depths to current scour action were described in details. At last, the current scour actions during pile groups were described, the differences between pile groups and single pile are analyzed by contrasting with each other.Through the research works, It was found that some results of the simulation are different from the simple engineering method. It demonstrated that the engineering method need some modifies. At last, some opinions and suggestions were put forward to engineering design.
