This paper presents a new type of temperature-compensated crystal oscillator, which is based upon the crystal resonator force-frequency characteristic. Introduces the traditional temperature compensated crystal oscillator, such as TCXO, MCXO and DTCXO, and the development of temperature-compensated technique. Specify the major steps in the fabrication flow of a crystal resonator. On the basis of the researching achievement of force-frequency characteristic, we found that the force applied to a resonator could cause a frequency change. We plate another kind of metallic film on the metallic electrodes of the resonator. The thermal tress is used to generate a correction force to compensate for the temperature-frequency characteristic of the crystal. The design idea and realization of the compensation are given in detail. The experimental result proves the stress-compensated method is feasible. This new type temperature compensated crystal oscillator could not only obviously widen the scope of chosen crystal but also could predigest all kinds of circuits in temperature compensation. In the second part of this paper, introduces a practical counter. This counter is designed by the multi-cycle synchronization frequency measurement technique, which effectively eliminates the effect of±1 error. So its accuracy is higher than that of ordinary instruments. This instrument could display the frequency and the PPM, and hint the frequency sorting scope. This counter could be used for crystal frequency measuring and sorting, in the manufacturing of quartz resonators and the study of resonators characteristic. The design and the theory of every part of the hardware and the software are given in detail. Then, some pieces of advice are proposed for betterment.
