Japanese culture, as the representative of estern culture, has been broadly researched by western world for many years in the course of western Modern Movement. It has been regarded as one of the important forces with which western designers broke the classic art theory that had dominated western world ever since Renaissance. And it has also fomented the formation of Modern Art theory. This discourse srudis the influrences that Japanese has on Western paint, architecture and Landscape architecture in Modern Art Movement. Analysing the cause, development and result of these influrences, from perspectives that westerners have rarely adopted, this discourse dedicated to reveal some of the most essential qualities of Modern art movement using a "history recur" analytical method. This paper also makes comparison between form of Japanese Art and that of Chinese Art, and studies why the major influrence to Western world came from Japan, but not China. Through analysis of outstanding works of Modern Art Movement masters, this discouse serves to fathom the essence of form, which on the other hand, reflects the way of "learn from abroad" in design . this can be adopted as guidance in our further researches and projects.
