| Studies of vertical sediment mixing coefficient (VSMC), relation well with fill up and resuspension of sediment, flocculation of sediment, movement of sediment in the bottom boundary is an important and difficult aspect for the research on estuarine and coastal sediment transport, which is also the very zone of great important to biology, chemistry, geology and physics in the oceans, seas, lakes ever rivers. They interest the oceanographer, port engineers, environmental hydrodynamics and biogeochemistry researchers. Vertical distribution of VSMC is the most important one, which determined the vertical distribution of suspended sediment concentration (SSC), for research aim to both distribution and transport of sediment. Experiments on sediment transport by two-dimensional uniform currents and waves were carried out using of wave-flow-sediment flume. From experimental results, these conclusion is found :1. The vertical distribution of SSC in two-dimensional uniform currents agrees well with Rouse's equation;2. The vertical sediment mixing coefficient εy is proportion to vertical fluid mixing coefficient εm:εy=αεm, it is ascertained thatα= 0.84e0.056u?2 in our experiments.3. The vertical distribution of εy can be described byparabola-ε=εmax-4εmax(y/h -0.5)2, in which εmax can be computed by, it is ascertained that C=3.1, D=2, in our experiments. 4. The vertical distribution of SSC under waves tend to logarithm, bedescribed by . The vertical distribution of εy can bedescribed by... |
