In this paper the piston, which is one of the heated parts of internal combustion engine is selected as investigated subject.The thermal load test has been carried out in the engine test. The thesis apply the software of PRO/ENGIBNEER to process the 3-D entity sculpt of piston, and use the process of Hypermesh to carry through the 3-D gridding plot.Using the ABAQUS software the numerical and soluble analyses can be got for the model of the piston. CoMPare the simulation results to the test results the temperature field and stress field can be got which are quite close the thermal load test. The above research results of theory and test make a contribution to the study on the thermal load of the piston.There are six chapters in this thesis and the details are as follows:Chapter One This part summarized the development of the piston in our country and outside.this part emphasized the theoretical meaning and the applicated engineering meaning of FE. Chapter Two Algorithms of FE are summarized and the ideas as well as the linear finite element method,boundary(contact) nonlinear finite element method,and nonlinear finite element method are discussed.Chapter Three To get the boundary condition of calculation by GTPOWER.Chapter Four Analyse the design of the piston.point out the design knowledge of pistonChapter Five The temperature field of a 3-dimensional FE model for the piston of 6DE1 diesel engine is calculated by using the computation program of ABAQUS. With the complicated boundary condition considered. Based on the calculated and test results. Much more,this paper concerned with the 6DE piston test results, the results of the FE analysis, the results of other pistons tests, some methods for preventing the fracture have been discussed, and one of them has been successfully tested, too.Chapter Six With the basic theory,finite element analysis of stress and temperature field was proceeded. According to the finite element analytical results, the piston is improved in the structural design.The new engine incorporating the cooling pipe technology is designed.
